EBs of the SW was well represented at the CEB-US National Conclave in Armour, SD. The National Conclave is the breed’s national event gathering dogs and owners from around the country to meet for field trials, confirmation, specialty show and seminars. Our member dogs performed well in the field and shined in the show ring. It was an honor to have Elena Melnikova from Spain to judge our dogs in the field and the ring.
Day 1: Wild bird trials for Gun Dog Solo, Open Braces and Open Solo. The conditions were tough and the pheasant were mostly in the agriculture fields rather than the grass strips where the dogs were run.
Day 2: Liberated trials for Gun Dog Solo, Open Braces and Open Solo. The temps were a little cooler with overcast skies, so the scenting conditions were more favorable. The afternoon also featured a Water Retrieve Test.
Day 3: Confirmation and Specialty Show. Lynda Kieres (Topper Lynn Kennels) presented how to best prepare and show your dog for the Specialty Show. Denine Auckerbauer gave an introduction to Rally.
Day 4: Attendees were treated to a presentation by Reynald Lefebvre on the Epagneul Breton breed standard and confirmation requirements. The evening was filled with dinner and annual fundraiser auction for CEB-US.
Day 5: Wild bird trails for Gun Dog Solo, Open Braces and Open Solo. With an occasional drizzle in the air, scenting conditions and temperatures were more favorable for the dogs.
